How Winners Spend Their Weekends
148: Re-charging by doing semi-instantaneously rewarding things.
Welcome reader! The weekend is here, and that means only one thing. You want to spend it as best as possible. How can one achieve that? There are many ways, and everyone will have their own version of it. Our approach to spending the weekend? Hard to beat.
Keeping the format similar to the one on the day of the wannabe business owner.
Saturday
6:30am: Winners get up early.
6:45am: To check how things are outside in terms of the weather. You go to your balcony for a quick preview of what you can expect. The weather outside is beautiful.
7:00am: Your standard procedure is that, depending on the weather outside… You either head out or hop on the treadmill for a 30minute run - aiming for the Zone 2. This sets you up for a day of performance and clarity. Extra points if the weather is sunny. Sun also known as the best supplement in the world.
7:45am: You are back home - full of energy. Quick shower before taking care of other things. You review your pocket notebook and the tasks you need to take care of that were written down this week. At the same time, you plan what you will do tomorrow and what you must complete. All of this is accompanied by an espresso for even more clarity.
8:05am: One of your friends calls to ask if you want to grab something to eat in an hour or two. You hit him up with a counteroffer. Suggesting that instead of having a light breakfast, you invite a few people and head out for a light dinner. This way, you won’t break your intermittent fasting by eating junk food, including others from the group. Making it a win-win in your scenario.
8:15am: Your friend confirms he is up for it and will take care of the people who should be invited, and choose the spot.
8:20am: Time to check emails and messages from last night. One of the things you do is stop checking business messages after 10pm, as you have noticed a boost in energy while doing it. No one wants that before sleeping.
8.50am: The friend group has been confirmed. You have a rough number of the guests for dinner tonight and the spot you are heading to. Luckily, you know the owner… Making this process much easier for you.
9:00am: You send a DM to the semi-fancy restaurant owner you met last year after being introduced by a close friend. Simultaneously, your calendar notification goes off that you have a hairdresser appointment in 30 minutes.
9:15am: The place is close to where you live. Taking you less than 15 minutes to get there - making it a perfect opportunity to get a few more steps in.
9:30am: The haircut is done. Leaving the tip… As everyone should. It's funny how the place always seems busy, but they find a spot for you. Maybe the tipping and your above-average social skills make the other side appreciate you. Who will know?
10:00am: Back home - time to work. You realize that weekends are meant for gaining a competitive advantage since you run your own business while working for someone else. Trying to escape mediocrity and build your skills. Saturdays are mostly spent on admin work and improving current processes. This usually takes you between 2 and 4 hours, so you are not too strict with your schedule, allowing yourself to discover what works best for you. After experimenting a bit, you realized that the best work you do is in the late morning - afternoon… Making this the perfect time to start.
10:40am: Notification goes off - table reservation confirmed.
11:00am: Taking care of the admin tasks. It is the end of the month, so you are preparing your taxes and sending a few emails to your accountant. Usually, it takes you a few hours to organize everything, so you often split it into two blocks depending on how your schedule looks for the day.
11:25am: One of the clients you have been working with has sent an email complaining about unnecessary details. It is complete BS… But you are doing everything possible to avoid getting upset and losing momentum. You are almost done, and there is no time to waste. The best option at the moment is not to reply to the email. This allows you to cool down a bit before saying things you should not say in the first place.
11:45am: After 20 minutes you are still thinking about the email and feeling like you are losing momentum. Getting distracted from what should be your main goal. To relax and take it easy, you decide to stop for 10 minutes and play 432 Hz background sounds. The fun part is that you still can't confirm whether they help you or it is all a psyop. The reality is that it doesn’t matter as long as it relaxes you.
12:30pm: The background sounds have relaxed you, and you have pushed yourself while maintaining momentum. It's time to break your fast with an easy protein meal - five scrambled eggs and a bit of veggies are all you need to stay full of energy. There is no preparation for this meal. Making it a perfect option since you don’t want to waste your time. Not to mention that doing intermittent fasting makes everything taste good.
12:40pm: Before returning to work, you opened up Instagram and checked what was happening. Another one of your high school friends is going through a divorce. It is hard for you to picture it, considering he was one of the most popular guys and never had any problems with girls. On the other hand, you have heard he fell into multiple lifestyle traps and wasted his 20s doing nothing. Funny how somehow you always get rewards for how much work you put in (or don’t put in). The conclusion is simple… Waste of massive potential.
1:00pm: Back to work and finish it up for Saturday. At least that is what you tell to yourself, but it never works out like that. There is a 99% chance you will either 1) answer the emails or 2) do some other activity related to your business.
3:30pm: Things are taking longer than usual because you have decided to go on a side quest around the creative aspect of your paid media - something you have been putting off for weeks. It is almost there, but not quite yet. You have made a promise to yourself that you want it completed today, and no one is going to stop you.
4:30pm: You are done with all of it and feel tired. It's time to relax a bit. Usually, you pick a book and prefer it over an audiobook. But today, the choice is listening to Norman Vincent's underrated book The Power of Positive Thinking. Everyone reading this should listen to it - powerful stuff.
6:00pm: The idea was not to spend over an hour on a book. Yet it was so good that you could not help yourself. The lunch was light, and all the thinking you had to do around your side quest made you hungry. Honey, nuts, and fruit should keep you full until dinner. Understanding that there will be alcohol consumption, along with the other foods, makes this a perfect excuse to avoid consuming any unnecessary calories.
6:15pm: Grandpa is calling to check on you and see how you are doing. Dropping everything and focusing on him is the only right choice. Impossible not to be 100% into the conversation with the old man.
6:30pm: Last week, a friend told you he might have an open position to refer you to. He promised he would call you this week, but so far… Nothing. The only right thing to do is to take matters into your own hands and remind him of what he promised. A quick call turns into a bit of back and forth about what is happening in both of your lives.
6:50pm: The plan worked out as you expected it would. He will set up the meeting for the new role - allowing you to get into a position to help you escape cubicle hell. This will make the transition to going fully into your business much easier. Since that is your main plan, and you can no longer care less about the corporate world. At this point, it is nothing but a golden ticket to escape.
7:20pm: You start getting ready to go out. Since you know the place is semi-elegant, you are looking for clothes that are neither too relaxed nor too casual - understanding that it is always better to be overdressed than underdressed. The reservation is at 9:00pm. Giving you more than enough time to check emails, get dressed, and get into the mood. After working half the day, one of the hardest things is getting into a social mood. This is where the pacing and listening to music become important.
8:00pm: After taking a longer shower and mentally getting into the mood to talk with people without sounding schizo in front of them. While pacing around the room - getting ready. Ordering the Uber Black (because you care about your safety), you put on your warm-up night out playlist…
8:30pm: The taxi has arrived, and you find yourself engaged in an internal monologue about how to enjoy a decent night without turning it into a Felix Dennis party. A few glasses of wine are something you promise yourself. Reminding yourself that having an internal monologue about alcohol consumption is what separates those who win big from those who end up throwing up and looking like fools. Less is more - even more with alcohol.
8:45pm: The traffic is heavier than usual… This gives you enough time to check your emails and social media. While scrolling through LinkedIn, you had to stop because you almost threw up at how much corporate nonsense there was. You can't blame anyone for playing the same game, as you understand the importance of LinkedIn and why one should have it.
9:00pm: Arriving at the perfect time to pick up the reservation. Being a regular guest and knowing everyone by name grants your group the best table. There are no surprises. All that work you have put into your social skills is paying off…
10:20pm: After a few drinks, the internal voice kicks in. You realize how lucky you are to share everything with your friends without downplaying your success and what has worked for you. Blessing that not many can relate to. Few.
10:40pm: One of your good friends asks whether you should order another bottle of wine. You will not drink any of it since you have reached your limit. However, you support that decision because everyone is in the moment - enjoying their time, and that is what it is all about. The key to being loved in the social circle is to avoid delivering bad news or being the negative one.
10:45pm: Since you have experience drinking fine wines. You understand that the secret to success and avoiding hangovers is how hydrated you are - ensuring you drink water (not just wine). Earlier in the day, you prepare electrolytes and put them into the fridge so you can have a fresh drink before heading to bed - it is one of those college methods that work wonders after all those years.
11:30pm: The night is ending. Everyone around you asks for the link and how the payment will be split. You know that is nonsense, and you decide to cover the bill. The waitress and service were superb as always. So you chose to tip appropriately... The least favorite guy in the group asks if you won the lottery and didn’t tell anyone. Good try, buddy. The only response you give is a smile, nod, and agree.
11:40pm: Part of the group wants to continue the action at the club a few blocks away. But you understand that if you opting that it will lead to a night of douchery and poor decisions. Sticking to the initial idea of heading home after the day. Uber is here, and you have a perfect excuse…
11:50pm: Taxi drops you off.
11:55pm: You are in bed, picking up your mobile, scrolling through social media, and mindlessly wasting time that would be better spent sleeping. Luckily, you know how to stop and choose to pick up the book instead. You are reading one of the books recommended by a random internet anon you found on Twitter. The book knocks you out in five minutes…
Sunday
8:30am: The sacrifices had to be made. You decided to sleep in. The last night ended up getting longer than you had planned.
8:45am: Quick shower to wash away all the sins from last night. Putting yourself under extremely high temperatures to help eliminate the toxins from last night. Knowing that it is complete BS and it's impossible to eliminate the toxins that way… It still feels good. So you continue to psyop yourself up - which is beneficial because it makes you feel good. Understanding that a big part of your life comes down to knowing when you should psyop yourself up and enjoy things for what they are not. The concept that not many understand…
9:00am: On Sunday, you usually don’t do intermittent fasting because you hit the local breakfast/brunch spot with your friends. This morning you have decided to start the morning with Fresh OJ and spend some time alone. Sit in the sun on the balcony and listen to someone you respect.
Shoutout to Tuan Vy, all credits to him. Interesting audio around the money and what it takes …
9:30am: Still not feeling 100%. Maybe you had a glass of wine or two you should not have? You have decided to go out for the talk since the weather is perfect. To get the most out of it. The only option is to leave your headphones at home to limit distractions and enjoy the moment.
9:45am: On your typical routine walk, you always encounter the same unfortunate old lady begging for money. Since you understand how money works. No matter how she spends that money, it is your moral duty to leave something for her every time you walk pass her. Funny enough, the more you give to that lady… The more money you make.
10:05 am: Back at home. Getting over your emails and opening up YouTube to catch up on your subscriptions. There is an understanding that YouTube has the best algorithm, so you understand that you need to be careful around it. Not to end up wasting hours on it.
10:20am: You are losing the algorithm game at the moment… An algorithm delivers an amazing Sam Ovens video, and you can't help but "waste" 20 minutes of your time watching it. YouTube 1:0 You.
11:30am: Your work phone is ringing. It is your team lead. Knowing that this is his second attempt for you to deliver additional work over the weekend this month, you understand it is important to ignore this call. The reality is that the position should have been yours. But you decided not to take it as the salary increase would not compensate for the additional time you would need to invest. Understanding that working on your business offers a higher ROI. There is no reason to panic, as you know that the excuse for not picking up was that you were on a trip without access to your business phone/internet. Yes, it works if you know how to deliver it.
11:45am: It is time to drink all your supplements... You are running out of your favorite Magnesium, so it is time to stock up…
11:50am: Everything is going smoothly so far this Sunday. Energy is slowly returning, and it seems like a perfect time to relax and watch episode two on Netflix.
11:55am: Unfortunately… You cannot watch it because you read the fantastic post on how to rest like you mean it a few years back. Plus, you already lost to the YouTube algorithm. Remind yourself that your free time would be better spent doing something you love - which might help you be more creative.
12:00pm: One of your passions is playing the piano, and spending an hour or two getting better at playing keys is a much better time spent than watching Netflix. Winners have hobbies and never fall for the psyop that they don’t have. Being 100% set on your work is important. But one of the easiest ways to burn out is to have nothing besides that work.
1:20pm: It is absurd how time flies when you are having fun. Your piano session is interrupted by a friend from last night. Telling you how the rest of the night went and what happened after you left. Most people would experience FOMO, but you are far from that stage of your life. While on the phone, both of you agree that next weekend you should head out to nature.
1:40pm: You are trying to get back to playing piano but not feeling it… It is better to stop and not waste your energy doing that.
2:10pm: Preparing the steak you had and calling up your family to see if everyone is fine. They are currently on vacation. You couldn't go because you had some obligations in the office… Motivating you even more to quit ASAP and go fully solo.
3:00pm: Enjoying an espresso while reading the WSJ and Hacker News, staying updated with what is happening worldwide.
3:30pm: Someone contacted you on your website two weeks ago and asked for consultations. Remember the bill from last night? This is the exact reason why you don't sweat about it. It is almost taken care of, and not even 12 hours have passed… Extra points for helping someone else with their problems. Once again, you remind yourself how smart it was to start posting online since all of us operate in the attention economy.
4:00pm: You are not hungry. Money was made. The family is doing well. What is left to do? You decide to take a little siesta. Well, it is Sunday. Power nap, as they call it…
4:55pm: Getting older feels heavier on nights out, and you feel that back in the day you could easily do a bunch of those and the next day still feel like the king. Power nap gave you what you needed. But it ended up not being a power nap but a proper nap session. The good thing is that you feel full of energy.
5:00pm: After reading nonsense about the ultimate energy, you decide to try it. The idea is to do nothing for 15 minutes… How hard can it be?
5:15pm: After almost falling asleep for the first 5 minutes… You end up feeling refreshed. Your thoughts are clear + you get inspired to pull off the creativity to use on the affiliate method you have been trying to use for months.
5:55pm: You send a DM to your VA asking if he is up, considering that it is post midnight in his timezone and it is technically working day for him - Monday.
6:00pm: Quick blueberry snack. Also known as one of the best things you could eat… IYKYK
6:15pm: VA replies. He awaits your next steps. You are thinking about how those guys are built differently and are on the clock 24/7. Something that not many can say about themselves. This also reminds you that they have upcoming holidays, so you should arrange a nice gift basket for him and his family.
6:20pm: While you were waiting for your VA to answer you. AI has helped you with the creative aspect, and you almost pulled the whole thing off. However, some things still need to be taken care of… Sending him clear instructions on how the creative should look.
6:25pm: You open Twitter and check what is happening while waiting. Every other post seems to claim that they have a "secret" no one else knows or that they want you to comment on something to get them to send you a free PDF. Since you have been studying marketing for the past few years… It is understood that most of it is a magnet and part of their funnel. You remind yourself that an important skill for the future is understanding how to escape the digital rat race.
6:30pm: VA has returned with the initial version of what you requested from him. It is not as you had planned earlier - hopping on the call and explaining what should be done differently. Thinking this guy should be sleeping, but he is still pulling it off. Nothing but respect.
6:45pm: It is still hard to get rid of the feeling that you want to watch something and relax tonight… Opening the Rotten Tomatoes documentary list and searching for something to stream.
6:50pm: The documentary plays in the background as you decide to pick up your cellphone to check the budget (expenses) for this month. Everything looks good + you have decided what your priorities should be in terms of your spending and investing this month…
7:00pm: The crypto market is down, so you exchanged a few of your stablecoins for more BTC. You have been doing this for years because you believe in the larger vision behind it. Worth mentioning that you don’t mind that it helps you increase your net worth each year.
7:10 pm: The VA is back with the edits, and everything looks amazing. The plan is to run it up tomorrow and see how it performs. Thanking him and paying him double for the work he has done. Finding someone you can fully rely on is difficult, and you won't understand that until you hire a few mediocre performers.
7:20pm: The documentary itself is not what you expected… So you decided to cut it short and not waste your time. It is common sense that if something is not good in the first 30 to 40 minutes or fails to spark your curiosity. There is a good chance it is a waste of time.
7:25pm: The basic meal prep for tomorrow at the office. Chicken and veggies are on the menu. Nothing special. But it should be enough to keep you full until you get home.
7:40pm: As you prepare your food, you remember how you used to make fun of those who did it before… Now, you are one of them. This makes perfect sense since the average quality of restaurant food - takeout has never been worse.
8:15pm: The mobile phone goes off again. There is another email inquiry about your consultation. It looks like you will have more side income coming your way.
8:45pm: Throughout the week, one of your strategies is to bookmark all the interesting reads you have not had time to go over. Doing this allows you to go over interesting material and quickly determine what is worth your time and what is not. Your strategy is to collect everything and go over it each Sunday.
9:25pm: Next on the list is going over your journal and the schedule for next week. Writing down a few things in the calendar app. Over time, you have realized that the ultimate productivity system for keeping notes and tracking tasks boils down to pen and paper and a simple calendar application. This approach saves you time and energy without creating complicated systems behind it.
10:30pm: You have an early night since you have a big meeting tomorrow. Reflecting on your two days, you conclude that you had a perfect weekend. Social aspect, working on your business, fitness, relaxation, and talking with the people you care about… As you slowly fade into sleep, you remind yourself that weekends are all about those moments...
This approach? It covers everything. Working on your business? Checked. Spending time with your social circle? Checked. Taking care of your health? Checked. Stimulating your mind by learning new things? Checked. To wrap up… We hope you have a proper weekend ahead. You already know what you need to do to win.

Great content, again, BOS. Very thought invoking. Looking forward to the next one, king.
Amazing read, as usual! Thanks for providing it to us for free. It gives a nice clarity.
One question that came up for me is what's the context in which someone should hire a VA? If the task needed is something like designing a website, why wouldn't I just hire a specialist?
