Your Machine
You will often see us rant about this on our Twitter profile. When it comes to your machine in most cases you will not need a brand new one to have your operations run smoothly. Let’s take for example someone that is doing contract stacking and creating their ultimate outreach system. In what sense do you need the newest MacBook to pull it off? We can’t find a reason either. If you can afford it, go for it. But in case you are tight on your budget do yourself a favor and unfollow everyone that is saying you must have a brand-new machine to make WiFi money. You don’t in any sense. When we are discussing resource-heavy activities such as video editing and heavy coding that is where having a new machine (better said strong) is a must.
One of our favorite investments in 2023 was a cheap ThinkPad T480 we bought during our stay in Europe. We are talking here about a 250$ laptop. Without a doubt, we will be able to run it for degen activities for at least a few more years. Especially if you set up a Linux-based distro to run as the primary OS. Why are we mentioning our investment? We won’t use it as a money-making machine. However, we could argue that the same machine could serve as a main platform to make money - if you are tight on budget. Will it be easier to do certain tasks with the new machine? Yes. Can those same tasks be done a little slower with older machines? Most likely. Don’t fall for the trap that you need the newest machine to make WiFi money. You don’t need it, it’s not a good enough excuse not to start. Suggestions? If you are tight on budget look for older ThinkPads. They are workhorses and will last years if you take good care of them.
Another option you could do is to get a hands-on cloud-based machine. Prices have been falling over the years and you can get yourself a decent working machine for only 10$ per month. There are a few negative aspects (can’t be fully degen when using one) so it’s important to understand what you are getting yourself into - read the agreement you are accepting. Some will allow you to run degen activities straight from their cloud machine. While others won’t allow you to do so. Our advice here is to go for the ones that will let you do it. In that case, it will allow you to use your personal machine for business. While separating degen activities on a cloud-based machine. You don’t want to run WiFi money operations from “rented” machines in any way.
VPN
This is not strictly something that will keep your WiFi money-making machine safe. But it will help you maintain anonymity in the sense. Making it harder for others to keep track of you. Hiding your IP is important in case you are planning to do some activities that are not that legal. We know quite a few individuals running VPN and VM combo getting all their stuff for free. Not our choice. But something you could think to pull off when you incorporate a VPN into your system. VPNs are one of those cheap investments with huge a ROI. Stick to a proven VPN such as Mullvad. Stay away from those guru promoted YouTube VPNs. Everyone is promoting them because they got a huge affiliate % on those - not because they are good products.
VPN should not be mixed up with the Proxies. They are two different things. Both of them do keep your IP hidden - but the use case is different. It serves as a bridge between you and the content you want to reach. Making it easier for you to run multiple accounts or switch between IPs fast. Both should have use cases in your arsenal - when it comes to anonymity and safety. A good VPN will be more than enough for a big majority.
Degen Activities
So far we have mentioned degen activities a few times in our article. What do those degen activities even mean? Torrenting, clicking random links, and browsing Asian sites full of shady alpha. All of them without a doubt should be considered degen activities. When it comes to degen activities it’s hard to stay away from them in case you have been doing them. Especially if you have been doing them for a long time. Tell someone who has been doing it since the early 2000s to stop. Good luck with that. Not suggesting anyone stop doing it - your choice. But in each case, you should be approaching it smartly. Readers who are experienced without a doubt already know it’s not that hard to stay safe if you know what you are doing. Consider that all of us have occasional slip-ups. Browsing Reddit and noticing an interesting link worth clicking? That could potentially cause you harm. Not to mention .exe files for Windows users or anything similar such as downloading cracked software or video games and running them on the same machine as your business. These are the league of their own.
Why worry about anything when you could just set up a Virtual Machine? The best thing about is that it comes free of charge. Allowing you to run everything without even thinking about what you are doing. The most important thing you have to realize in order to run successfully WiFi money is that you can’t mix business and pleasure. Without a doubt, you can use different machines. For those who have been longer in this space you already know how often exploits, leaks, and all other bad stuff happen - quite often. Virtual Machines
One of the best things you could do for yourself is set up a “Virtual Machine” using tools such as VM Player or VirtualBox. They don’t require you to be a rocket scientist to pull it off. However, at the same time, they will provide you with necessary safety - not always but in 80% of cases. Which OS to choose? Completely up to you and your machine's capabilities. Plus take into consideration how you plan to separate your activities. In case you are planning to go full degen on your Virtual Machine (what we are suggesting) go with any Linux distro. They are great since they are light and all the applications you will need to do your degen activities are available on those. Linux is not what it used to be 10 years ago.
If you have different plans or need specific applications that are not available on Linux. You can boot up Windows machines without any problems. The only thing to pay attention to when running the Windows platform is that it requires more resources than running Linux. Something you will have to find out along the way. When it comes to playing around with various Linux distros sites such as DistroWatch are great starting points. Laptops such as the one we have recommended above (ThinkPad T480) can even run macOS. Making it extremely hard to beat 250$ laptops running macOS fluently. Another excuse less not to start WiFi money since you won’t have a “machine excuse”.
Basics You Need In Place
