Imagine trying to be an affiliate 10 years ago and now. The difference? Night and day. A few older cats will say it was easier, while we would disagree. It was easier in the sense that once you understood what you were doing, it was easier to drive traffic to your offer and convert it. Considering the market was not as sophisticated as it is today.
What was much harder back in the day was to obtain the initial info.
Initial info? Yes, something that used to serve as a starting point. How to start? Where to start? Today, those basics can be found in one Google search. Back in the day, it was different. Not to make an article an affiliate marketing one. We can all agree that starting as an affiliate has never been easier. Why? Because of the efficiency of the market itself.
What did the short-form content allow? Instant results. No signal person can deny that it’s 10x easier, and your results will be faster. Where does that bring us? There are a few options. One that most have heard of…
TikTok Affiliate Shop
There are other ways to drive traffic using the short form, not necessarily the TikTok shop. But the TikTok shop makes things easier when converting your visitors and getting paid, giving you solid fundamentals and saving you hours in the backend.
The reason it's so efficient:
The complexity of driving traffic is minimal.
You are removing the "time element" from it.
Can be done with no paid traffic.
No one is saying that creating video content is easy. However, one can’t compare the power of it with the average article - for example. You can get thousands of views daily by relying on the algorithm, while the same average article will take time. It could be months or could be years. Yes, there is the argument about short form not being relevant after two days and the algorithm not going along with it while the article is still there and getting more attention. Pick your poison…
There is no right answer.
Both have a place in the affiliate offers. Yet if you are starting your side income - WiFi money adventure, having those initial results early will keep you going. The time element is still there, but it’s been removed. Removed in the sense that it's incomparable when you compare it with the other business models and the time it takes to get it off the ground. Remember, it's business - meaning it’s all about the money, following consumers, and focusing on that.
The meta is all about short content mixed with affiliate schemes.
Last out of those three? You don’t have to pay a cent to make it successfully. Some would argue that paid traffic is the best thing, while for others, it's a one-way ticket from which they will never recover. In our opinion, it's never recommended that new guns immediately start with the ads. You are better off playing the slow (or, in this case, not that slow) game that will teach you a thing or two. Short form removes a good part of "slow" from the equation.

The TikTok shop should be considered short-term thinking. You rely on one platform to drive traffic, which is short-term thinking for us. It would be the same if Instagram came up with an alternative offering everything on its platform…
The biggest problem with meta is that the market is getting saturated rapidly.
Meaning that the average buyer will find it harder to pursue buying something down the road. Another negative is that TikTok changes the rules and what you must "tick off" to join the TikTok Shop scheme. There are no surprises, and we are sure things will change further, as well as stricter regulations regarding access to one. To speed things up (depending on how this article will age), you can buy a premade account that has already ticked off all requirements. One possibility that should not be overlooked.
Is the affiliate short-form content itself a short-form thinking?
Would say no. Short-form content is here to stay (unfortunately for young generations). It's not the healthiest thing for your mind, so your goal is to get out of the consumer mindset and get into the producer one ASAP. If you are not producing already, the best thing you can do for yourself is to get out of it.
Don't consume and don’t waste your time.
For older readers reading this, we suggest you give short form content a try. Use it, consume it. Try a week or two if our take does not convince you. You will realize how your concentration levels are going to zero - dopamine being fried by all the content your brain is processing. Remember…
Never get high on your own supply.
Conclusion: The side income meta right now is short-form mixed with the affiliate offers. There are good reasons and no one should be surprised. Is this something you should focus on as your side income operation? We would say so. We don’t see it changing fast. Maybe down the road, when AR / mixed reality becomes a new standard, people will slowly move away from short-form content - not a guarantee.
Until then, it will be the center of attraction for the majority.
You already know what to do with it - use it to your advantage. Put yourself in the position of creating for those who are consuming it. Understand what it is all about and recognize the opportunity all of us have been given - one that should not be overlooked.
