Hello ladies, gents, cartoon animals, and others.
Back from vacation. The plan is to drop the lifestyle article (this one) and a few paid ones over the next week. To help you make some money on the side. It all depends on our 9-5 and whether things will get busy.
A big factor and something that is not being mentioned around enough?
Energy levels.
It’s not the same effort as trying to build up the WiFi money while working 12 hours a day on your W2 or spending 7 hours on it. Yet most will offer terrible advice without considering your current and end goal.
The point of an article like this one is to raise awareness of the importance of your energy levels. If we can get just one person to start thinking about energy and paying attention… We did a lot.
Energy Is Underrated
Throughout our lives, starting from early school days. Teachers trying to “convince” you that being active and having good energy levels is not a blessing. But more of a curse.
Being loud, throwing jokes, or constantly needing to do something to keep yourself “satisfied” is exactly what they don't want in the classroom. Teachers want peace to do their hours and get home to watch Netflix.
At least back in the day, the medications were not as popular. So most of the energetic children were not “drugged” from an early age. Today? Things are very different. It’s normal to give and treat kids with ADHD pills or similar medication. So why are teachers pushing that?
Because it’s in their interest.
What do you think is easier to handle? Five kids on meds or five energetic ones? You have to prove to the kids you are the authority figure. Good luck with having those five energetic ones in the class.
Our advice?
Don’t even think about putting your kids on the medications - trying to slow them down. Make sure you guide them in the right direction. Once the right direction is set you will set how they will run laps around the others.
The same principles will still hold 10 to 15 years later when their schedules look much different. The kid is a potential champion and you are trying to slow that down?
Energy is a valuable asset.
Why “One” Approach Doesnt Work
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where the “problem” or better-said misunderstanding starts. The whole idea of an article like this is to make you understand that the small details and your energy levels matter.
Big time.
All the successful individuals we know are highly energetic. Energetic in the sense that they don’t get tired. Stop for a second a think about it. You will realize that most “successful” ones share similar tendencies.
A huge advantage is not getting tired while others do
Not to get too far from our main topic…
As you know, we are all about WiFi money and running your side operations. Here is a simple example that illustrates the main idea of the article.
Person A
Sales individual
Stressful job
Often long hours (11 hours+)
Energy levels - Normal (Nutrition and sleep)
Person B
Government / Federal worker
Low-stress job
9 - 5 (8 hours tops)
Energy levels - Normal (Nutrition and sleep)
Guess which one will be having an easier time starting their own business?
It should be clear.
Most don't realize that Person B, in this case, will have a much easier time starting their own thing on the side. Not even getting deeper into someone’s "personal” energy levels. This is why advice such as “you must do x and then start y” to make it in life. Loads of BS.
There are too many factors and variables for it to be that simple.
Logically, it’s easier for a coder to start making WiFi money than for someone doing any kind of trade. You might wonder why one should not stick to a one-way approach. The options are endless.
“Tech Sales and start building on the side bro” - What we hear most often from our circles.
It’s true. But it’s not the same being an SDR and an AE. It’s not the same as working for established logos and small startups, meaning starting a business for them will not be the same. Even though they are both in tech sales and doing “similar jobs”. Both come with certain costs. Be honest and transparent with yourself. Optimal is not the same for you and Joe from Marketing. Neither is the same when comparing Joe from Marketing to Bob, who fixes pipes all day.
Getting back to our “example”
Because of how much less stress and energy a person will have to endure during their normal working day. That energy advantage will add up. Now put that extra energy into running new things…
Results are guaranteed.
Energy levels are often quite abstract for young readers. But the old ones will 100% agree with us. Since the energy levels can’t be “manipulated,” your priorities should be proper nutrition and a sleep schedule.
After that?
You will have to accept that some individuals are different than others.
Have you been hearing “calm down” your whole life, but you are having a hard time realizing how others around you are tired?
One of the lucky ones → use it to your advantage → build while others rest.
Actionable Steps
The game plan is quite simple. No reason to overcomplicate:
First make sure you optimize what you can (Nutrition, Sleep)
Set your priorities and goals
Positions yourself depending on your priorities (Remember to pay attention to how you spend your daily energy)
Build up on your choices
It could not be much easier. The hardest part will be choosing the priorities and setting yourself up for things that will come later in life. In case you are one of those "lucky ones".
Congrats you will have an easier time achieving more.
Our advice? Get yourself in the most comfortable position and build on the side. There is a huge ROI for having a side operation up and running. Even if it’s uncomfortable, it’s on you to do everything you can to start running things on a side.
Requirements?
You don’t plan on quitting when times get hard.
Yet to start your WiFi money journey?
Final Word
As always play your strengths.
You must position yourself as best as possible to achieve the most output with the least input. Pay attention to your energy levels, and get your sleep and nutrition on point.
The second step is to focus on and decide on your end goal. If your end goal is to spin off your operations. Most individuals are much better off with a “relaxed” job and fewer hours. Even if that gig will pay less.
Opposite to that it will be harder to pull off your side gigs → make it work.
When it comes to the opposite, you may be doing better paid 9 - 5 work. Both of them have their pros and cons. As with most things, it will come down to your personal preferences and goals. Building something on the side while working the “heavy” 9-5 is possible. We all know that it is.
