Hello ladies, gents, cartoon animals, and others.
Today's we are all about helping fellow SDRs and AEs in choosing their next workplace. Information is also applicable to those who are yet to break into tech sales. Principles and the logic behind them are the same.
When it comes to poor choices and why individuals are not hitting quota… The reason is quite simple. The solution they are selling often doesn’t have a real market fit. Market fit is too broad a term - the solution they are selling doesn’t have a real market need. To dumb it down even further no one needs it.
With the current market trends and situation, things started to show their true colors. SaaS solutions that were bringing in a small revenue are doing even smaller revenue now. While the established ones are bringing the same if not even more despite the current market. Since our whole Substack is about maximizing and being as efficient as possible. The key here should be to apply these principles as best as you can and position yourself comfortably. The position you should be aiming as with all other 9 - 5 is to put the least input as possible while getting the most output.
No one is saying tech sales roles are easy to work. But anyone who tells you it’s the same amount of energy required to work in the established SaaS and startup is trying to sell you something. The difference is night and day. It's on you to do deep vetting and research on companies. Remind yourself that competition is getting better each day as tech sales roles are becoming more popular. So make sure you use every method and tool you can to land a role that will allow you to break into 100k+ remotely. Remember that outworking your competitors is one way to do it. Another way is to play games few know about.
